MoeGo Alternative — One-Time Grooming Software | SmartGroom

Alternative

SmartGroom as a MoeGo alternative

MoeGo is an established grooming platform and a reasonable choice for a lot of businesses. If you are looking at alternatives, it is usually for one of two reasons: the monthly subscription, or the sense that you are paying for a platform built for a bigger operation than yours.

This page covers both honestly, including where MoeGo is the better answer.

Where they differ

Two differences that actually matter

On booking, records, reminders, no-show protection and reviews, both platforms cover the ground. The decision is made elsewhere.

How you pay for it

MoeGo is a monthly subscription. Its published salon pricing starts at $79 a month, so the total depends on how long you keep grooming.

SmartGroom is a one-time software purchase: $599 for the first 20 salons, $799 after. SMS usage, hosting and domain registration are billed separately, so this is not zero ongoing cost — it is no recurring software bill from us. Every feature is included — no add-on fees for messaging, reports or integrations.

Worth doing: multiply the monthly figure by the years you plan to keep grooming, then compare. The calculator does it for you.

Who it was built for

MoeGo positions itself across a growth path: solo groomers, growing salons, then multi-location businesses. That breadth is a genuine strength if you are moving along it.

SmartGroom targets one end of that range and stops there — independent groomers, solo groomers, home-based studios and small salons.

The trade-off: fewer features to grow into, and fewer features you are paying for and never opening. Which features those are.

Straight answer

When MoeGo is the better choice

Switching software costs you a weekend and some risk. It is not worth doing unless the reason is real.

You are adding chairs or locations

A platform positioned for that growth path will handle it better than one that deliberately stops at small.

You need staff management or payroll

Not something SmartGroom targets. If it is central to your week, it should be central to your software.

You use features we do not have

Check your current workflow against the table above. If something you rely on is missing, that is a good reason to stay.

Your setup is working

Software that fits your day and a bill you do not resent is not a problem in need of solving.

And when SmartGroom is

You groom alone or with one other person, your book is steady, you have no plans for a second location, and you would rather buy the software once than pay a monthly bill for the next five years. That is the case where a one-time purchase built narrowly for independent groomers makes more sense than a subscription built to grow with you.

FAQ

SmartGroom and MoeGo

Is SmartGroom a MoeGo alternative?+

Yes. SmartGroom covers the same core ground for a grooming business — online booking, client and pet records, automated reminders, card-on-file no-show protection through Stripe or Square, Google review requests and data export — and is sold as a one-time software purchase rather than a monthly subscription.

What is the main difference between SmartGroom and MoeGo?+

The pricing model and the target business. SmartGroom is a one-time software purchase built for independent groomers and small grooming businesses. MoeGo is a monthly subscription positioned for grooming businesses growing from solo groomers into multi-location operations.

When is MoeGo the better choice?+

When you expect to add chairs, staff or locations and want the software to scale with you, or when you need capabilities SmartGroom does not target such as multi-location management or extensive enterprise reporting.

Can I move my client data from MoeGo to SmartGroom?+

Moving between platforms depends on being able to export your client, pet and booking data from your current provider. Check MoeGo's current export options directly. SmartGroom supports exporting client, pet and booking information, so the same question can be answered in your favour later. How switching works.
